A heavyweight fight between Alistair Overeem and Andrei Arlovski will headline UFC Fight Night on May 8 in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
UFC officials announced the bout Friday. It will serve as the main event of UFC Fight Night, which will mark the promotion's first trip to the Netherlands.
Overeem (40-14) recently re-signed with the UFC after fighting out his contract in December. A former titleholder for Strikeforce and DREAM, Overeem is currently on a three-fight winning streak. He is coming off a second-round TKO over former UFC champion Junior dos Santos on Dec. 19.
Arlovski (25-11) posted a photo to social media last weekend which hinted at a fight against Overeem. A former UFC champion, Arlovski saw his six-fight winning streak snapped in January, when he suffered a first-round knockout loss to Stipe Miocic.
The two heavyweights both train out of Jackson-Wink MMA in Albuquerque, New Mexico. That relationship, obviously, will not prevent the two from squaring off.
Overeem, originally from Amsterdam, has said he expects a UFC title shot with a win on May 8.
